Cannon Beach . Day 2

We woke up lazily to a light sprinkle outside. Mike was sweet enough to go down to the lodge and get breakfast for us. He brought it all up on a tray and it felt like getting room service. The kids enjoyed some morning cartoons as they ate and after we finally all got ready we headed up the road to the Tillamook Cheese factory. The kids were so enamored by the cheese process. We were all a little shocked to see the 40 lb blocks of cheese on the assembly line. We learned that it takes 10 lbs or a little over a gallon of milk to make 1 lb of Tillamook Cheese. More than 1.7 million pounds of milk arrive at the factory each day and about 167,000 pounds of cheese is made from that milk. WOW!!! After reading a watching some informational videos we stood in a short line to sample some of the cheese. YUM YUM!!! We ate lunch there and then got some yummy Tillamook Ice-Cream! We were all so full and happy by the time we left.

The weather still did not looking promising as we headed back up the coast past Manzanita and into Cannon Beach. Instead of playing in one spot at the beach we decided to take a walk along the beach towards the biggest sea stack. It was so fun to watch the kids run in and out of the shallow tide. Emma and I had fun running away from the tide and Peter had fun jumping in the water. He was by far the wettest of all of us by the end. We made it to the big sea stack and then turned around. Our toes were a little cold by the end of our walk but we just warmed them up back in our room by all sitting on the side of the tub and soaking them in warm water. We ate dinner in the little town and everyone cleared their plates. That is a first for all of the kids when eating out. We stopped at the candy shop on the way out and the kids got to pick a piece of candy for being so good at dinner. Mike and I shared some more yummy huckleberry ice-cream. It is so nice to end the day with something so sweet!
