We always said we would try out Space A while we are in the military to try and hop on a flight for free. The reality of Space A is it's completely unpredictable and highly unrealiable. With lots of kids in tow it is overwhelming to think about trying it but ever since moving to Japan we keep hearing how easy it is to Space A to Singapore. We decided to try it out. The flight out went pretty smooth. We got to the terminal and had everything we needed EXCEPT for a copy of all of our immunization records. Most places don't require an immunization record but recently all passengers traveling to Singapore were required to have them. It was quite a miracle that we were allowed to get on the plane as all of our immunization records are in the Army system and not the Navy system so ours were blank in the Navy system. Mike's awesome coreman ended up scanning all of our immunization records from our actual medical records and put them into the system for us. Lucky us! The flight was awesome and we had such amazing service. There were about 30 seats in the back of the plane so it was like traveling on a regular commercial plane. We had the old school airplane seats with the cigarette trays in the arm rest and the old school boxy TV's on the ceiling in the middle of the aisle. They played some great movies and gave us tons of snacks.
Getting off the plane in Singapore was interesting. We landed at an airfield owned by the Singapore Air Force. We went through customs at a small building and our bags were waiting for us right after. It wasn't the cleanest place and we definitely felt like we were on the other side of the world. We called a cab and then headed out of the small air base to wait for our cab. We ended up waiting for quite a long time but eventually we packed into 2 cabs and headed to Sentosa Island to our resort. My cab driver was so awesome. He told us all about the highlights of Singapore and everything we saw from our cab. He was so excited that he forgot to start his meter until half way through our ride. We stayed at the Sentosa Island Resort and it was amazing. We had two bedrooms connected together so Mike and I essentially had our own private room with bathroom and the kids had their own room. Everyone was happy! The grounds were beautiful with palm trees and peacocks and a beautiful pool. The kids had so much fun playing in the pool and watching American cartoons on the TV. Mike was happy to have found Garrett's popcorn from Chicago and I was happy to finally relax.

We didn't waste anytime on our first full day in Singapore. We headed to Universal Studios for the day. Since it was only a 5 minute shuttle ride from our resort we were able to sleep in and relax before heading there when it opened at 10am. It was hot and humid but we bought express passes which allowed us to cut to the front of the line once for every ride. The lines were ridiculously short anyways but this allowed us to not have to wait outside in the heat at all. We rode the roller coaster in Shrek land a dozen times because Abby just loved it. It's always nice when she is tall enough to ride the small coasters. The boys and I rode on the crazy upside down roller coaster rides (the CYCLONE and HUMAN) and we LOVED it. Peter was just barely tall enough which was great. By far all of our favorite ride was the Transformer ride and the Mummy ride which was kind of scarry but exhilarating. We loved the Shrek in 4D attraction and ended up doing it twice not only because we thought it was fun but because it was in an air conditioned building. After going on most every ride we headed over to see the Water World show. It was a perfect ending to our time at Universal Studios. It was a super fun day!

Today we explored all around Sentosa Island. We ended up spending a good portion of our day at the small water playground in the center of Sentosa Island called the Port of Lost Wonder. The kids had a blast and it felt good to be in the water during this really hot day. After loads of fun in the water we headed back to the resort to get changed so that everyone could watch me do some indoor skydiving. It was such a thrill. The boys really wanted to do it but we were worried they would chicken out when it was their turn. It was probably a wise choice as I was really nervous before it was my turn and I have done some pretty crazy things in the past. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be to stay stable in windtunnel. Still, it was so much fun! At night we enjoyed doing the luge ride with the kids. Emma was old enough to go on her own which made her nervous at first but once she got the hang of it she did pretty well. Sentosa Island is truly a fun place to visit.

This morning we caught a cab to our church in downtown Singapore to attend Sacrament Meeting. It was so nice to be in a real church building again. It made us miss having a normal church building with a parking lot. It was nice to not have to walk to church today. Our cab driver was awesome because he waited for us and then drove us back to the resort after our meeting was over. Turns out that we ended up using this same cab driver again to take us to the ferry terminal as we headed to Bintan Island in Indonesia
