Swimming lessons

Our kids really enjoyed swimming lessons at McChord pool this summer. The boys were signed up for the first two sessions and so from the middle of June to the middle of July we were at the pool Tuesday through Friday. It was a great way to start our summer especially with the great June weather we were having. The girls and I enjoyed playing in the baby pool while the boys had their lessons. We packed a lunch everyday with plenty of snacks to last us until the early afternoon. I can't think of a better way to have spent the first part of our summer. Peter started out in level 2 this year and did really well. He can swim by himself for about 30 feet and will freely swim without a lifejacket when he is close to the wall. Andrew started out in level 3 and worked on his front and back stroke. He loves to dive down to the bottom of the pool and hold his breath. Both he and Peter jumped off the high dive for the first time this year. They actually did it multiple times. I was so proud of them for their courage.

Abby and Emma were happy to swim in the baby pool. Abby learned to walk along the outer edge of the pool while holding onto the wall. Emma loved to swim with her friends and especially liked the little inner tubes brought by friends. We brought our own toys but for some reason everyone else's toys always seem more exciting. My next goal will be to get Emma and Abby in swim lessons. I will wait until the boys are in school for that challenge.
