We enjoyed a 4th of July BBQ with some of our friends this year. It was crazy windy being next to the water which made it hard to keep all of our food from flying away but the wind also made it cooler outside which was a nice relief from the heat and humidity that is our life these days. There were watergun fights, tag games around the fields of grass, lots of adventure play on the playground, and some baseball fun. Our 4th of July was the not the spectacular production of parades and entertainment that we are used to after living in the most quaint little town that put on the best 4th of July ever but it was just perfect for this year. We loved being with good friends and eating good food. I loved watching Emma and Ethan play together. They are the best of pals. Thank goodness they are still young or we might be in trouble. After the BBQ we headed home for a relaxing afternoon. We did not do fireworks as it was an American holiday and not a Japanese one and I'm sure our neighbors would not have appreciate all the noise. Usually there is a firework show on base but the Yokosuka base choose to wait until Friendship Day (a day where they invite all the Japanese to come onto the base) to do their fireworks show. So, we will just have to wait until then to enjoy some good fireworks!
