Emma's Baptism

We were so blessed to have family and friends with us on Emma’s baptism day.  Emma looked beautiful in her dress and I couldn’t help but notice a glow about her.  For her baptism gift we gave Emma her own pearl necklace and braclet to match.  Grandma Anne gave Emma a beautiful handmade quilt.  Grandma Anne makes quilts for each of her grandchildren when they are baptized.  All the kids held up their quilts and even Abby wanted to be part of it so she got to hold up the mini quilt that Grandma made for her dolls.  Afterwards we quickly got on our coats and headed to the church.  It had snowed a ton the night before so everything was white and beautiful.  It may have been cold but it was a great day for a baptism.  Our ward friends were there as well as Emma’s friend Keely and her mom, our neighbor Jamie, Michelle Watabe and her girls who drove down from Denver, the McArthurs, and my cousin Karl and his daughter.  It was really nice to have my parents there as well as Kim and Jacob.  We missed Grandpa Al but knew he was there in thought.

The crazy snow on the roads made for a small delay in the start of the baptism. However, the snow didn’t stop our good friends from coming to support Emma. There were lots of people at the baptism with three girls getting baptized from our ward. Although it was louder during the program than I would have liked, the Spirit was still strong. It was so wonderful being able to sit next to Emma during the entire program. She was so calm and peaceful. I loved being able to watch Emma get baptized as I stood up near the font. It was hard to not get emotional. At that moment I was so grateful to be married to a worthy priesthood holder. We all loved Grandma Anne’s talk on the Holy Ghost and Bishop Norton’s remarks at the end about how the snow outside related to baptism (white and water is found in both baptism and in snow). Afterwards we had a small reception at our house with refreshments. This day couldn’t have been more perfect.
