Naval Commendation Medal

So proud of my man for receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal while serving as Department Head for the ENT department. This award was given to him for his outstanding service in creating reciprocity agreements that allowed patients to receive surgical care without stateside evacuation costs. He also established the Allergy Immunotherapy clinic that helped recoupe patients from needing outsourced care. Along with these accomplishments during his time at Yokosuka Hospital he was also awarded the 2011 Presidential Foreign Body Award from the American Bronchoesophageal Association. In short, he has been busy improving upon the care that patients receieve while serving in Japan. Mike was able to share in this great moment with two of his great friends who also received the Navy Commendation Medal for their excellent service. His uniform looks bare because all of his ribbons were on his dress blues that already got packed up with the rest of his office for our upcoming move to Colorado. Still, he looked handsome in his bare uniform! Back in his clinic his corpsmen presented him with a traditional sailors paddle as a thank you for his service in the ENT department.
